B.Sc. Horticulture Science or Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Science is an undergraduate Agriculture Science and Technology course. It is the industry and science of plant cultivation including the process of preparing the soil for the planting of seeds, tubers, or cuttings. During the course, students work and conduct research in the disciplines of plant propagation and cultivation, crop production, plant breeding and genetic engineering, plant biochemistry, and plant physiology. The work involves fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables, flowers, trees, shrubs, and turf. Horticulturists work to improve crop yield, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses. Horticulture usually refers to gardening on a smaller scale, while agriculture refers to the large-scale cultivation of crops. The duration of the course is three years.

B.Sc. (Agri.) Genetics and Plant Breeding or Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding) is an undergraduate Agriculture course. Plant breeding is the application of genetics and related sciences to improve cultivated plant species. It is used to develop new varieties of agronomic, vegetable, horticultural, and ornamental crops that better meet the needs of modern living. The duration of the course is three years and after its successful completion, they have many career options.

B.Sc. (Agri.) Genetics and Plant Breeding Eligibility

• Aspiring students should have passed 12th class/HSC/10+2 or equivalent level of exam from any recognized school board.
• In the reputed institutes, there is an entrance test for admission.

B.Sc. Animal Husbandry and Dairying or Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry and Dairying is an undergraduate Agriculture Science and Technology course. Animal husbandry is the agricultural practice of breeding and raising livestock. Dairying is a branch of agriculture that encompasses the breeding, raising and utilization of dairy animals, primarily cows, to produce milk and the various dairy products processed from it. • Aspiring students should have completed 10+2 examination with Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and English or Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture with a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks.

B.Sc. Fisheries or Bachelor of Science in Fisheries is an undergraduate Fisheries Science course. Fisheries science is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, which draws on the disciplines of aquaculture including breeding, genetics, biotechnology, nutrition, farming, diagnosis of diseases in fishes, other aquatic resources, medical treatment of aquatic animals; fish processing including curing, canning, freezing, value addition, by-products and waste utilization, quality assurance and certification, fisheries microbiology, fisheries biochemistry; fisheries resource management including biology, anatomy, taxonomy, physiology, population dynamics; fisheries environment including oceanography, limnology, ecology, biodiversity, aquatic pollution; fishing technology including gear and craft engineering, navigation and seamanship, marine engines; fisheries economics and management and fisheries extension. The duration, of course, is four years and after passing it successfully students have many career opportunities in various related fields.

B.Sc. Fisheries Eligibility

B.Sc. Hons. Forestry or Bachelor of Science in Honours Forestry is an undergraduate Forestry and Wildlife course. Forestry is the art and science of managing forests, tree plantations, and related natural resources. The main emphasis in forestry is given on creating and implementing systems that allow forests to continue a sustainable continuation of environmental supplies and services. The course is divided into 8 semesters. The primary emphasis of this Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Forestry program is to impart theoretical and practical knowledge in all the areas of forestry. After passing the course, they can go for further Master’s Degree and for research work.

B.Sc. Tea Husbandry & Technology or Bachelor of Science in Tea Husbandry and Technology is an undergraduate Agriculture Science and Technology course. During this course, it is taught how to grow, manage, care, watering, harvesting, transportation along with tea processing products by using modern technologies. Generally, the duration of the course is three years but, in this context, it is four years. Duration of the course is totally dependent on the rules and regulations of the respective institute in which the course is to be completed. The degree course is beneficial in many ways in the agriculture sector, especially in plantation crops.

B.Sc. Tea Husbandry & Technology Eligibility

• Students should have completed their 10+2 with agriculture as one of the main subjects.

B.Sc. Sericulture or Bachelor of Science in Sericulture is an undergraduate Agricultural Science and Technology course. Sericulture or silk farming is the rearing of silkworms to produce raw silk. Although there are several commercial species of silkworms, Bombyx mori is the most widely used and intensively studied. The sericulture sector plays a major role in the development of the rural economy. Sericulture being a cottage industry offers a wide range of employment opportunities to the women belonging to rural areas. The duration of the course is three years and it is career orienting in nature that opens many jobs opportunities in the very sector.

B.Sc. Sericulture Eligibility

• Aspiring candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects from a recognized school board.

M.Sc. Genetics and Plant Breeding or Master of Science in Genetics and Plant Breeding is a postgraduate Plant Pathology course. The program is truly interdisciplinary, with membership from agronomy, biochemistry, botany, forest and wildlife ecology, genetics, horticulture, plant pathology, and statistics. Plant Breeding is the science and art of improving crop plants through the study and application of genetics, agronomy, statistics, plant pathology, entomology, and related sciences. The duration of the course is two years and its syllabus is divided into four semesters and some electives.

M.Sc. Genetics and Plant Breeding Eligibility

• Student who has passed Bachelor’s Degree and intermediate in second division with at least 50% marks separately in both and must have offered the subject at graduation level in which he/she is seeking admission.

M.F.Sc. or Master of Fisheries Science is a postgraduate Fisheries Science course. Fisheries Science is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, which draws on the disciplines of oceanography, marine biology, marine conservation, ecology, population dynamics, economics, and management to attempt to provide an integrated picture of fisheries. During the course, many topics are covered such as aquatic environment and biodiversity; environmental biotechnology; biotechnology for cleaner environment and management and utilization of wastewater, etc. The duration of M.F.Sc. is of two years and it may be provided by some institutes on a correspondence basis as well. The course is very valuable for farming communities along with others. Mostly the degree holders start their own private business vis-a-vis other government and private jobs.

M.F.Sc. Eligibility

• Aspiring students should have passed B.Tech. degree holder candidates from a recognized university board.
• And few of the institutes specify their eligibility criteria as the graduation subject must be zoology or fisheries science. However, it is not customary

M.Sc. Forestry or Master of Science in Forestry is a postgraduate Forestry and Wildlife course. The degree course covers the areas of research for the students include silvi-culture, seed technology, agro-forestry, tree physiology, tree genetics, tree breeding, tree tissue culture, forest management, wood science, wildlife etc. Forestry is the art and science of tree resources, including plantations and natural stands. The main goal of forestry is to create and implement systems that allow forests to continue a sustainable provision of environmental supplies and services. M.Sc. in Forestry is a two-year programme (four semesters) with opportunities of specialisation in three disciplines of forestry viz., Silvi-culture and Agro-forestry, Tree Physiology and Breeding and Wildlife Science is offered by the College of Forestry. And minimum time to pass it is two years.

M.Sc. Forestry Eligibility

• Students should have passed the degrees of B.Sc. (Forestry), B.Sc. (Ag), B.Sc. (Hort), B.Tech. (Hort), B.Tech. (Ag. Biotech.) can go for Master of Science in Forestry.

M.Sc. Sericulture or Master of Science in Sericulture is a postgraduate Agriculture course. The Sericulture or silk farming is the rearing of silkworms to produce raw silk.
